Last updated: June 16, 2025

Context

A Liquidation Address is a unique set of instructions that transfers crypto to either a bank account or another blockchain address. Any time funds are sent to the blockchain address provided when creating the liquidation address, those funds are automatically sent per the instructions provided when setting up the liquidation address.

For example, if you create a liquidation address and specify the destination payment rail as wire, the currency as USD, and the destination external account or wallet, then any time USD is sent to the liquidation address via the blockchain address, those funds will be routed via wire to the external account ID or wallet provided when creating the liquidation address.

Note that Liquidation Addresses do not custody funds.

Liquidation Addresses are the opposite of Virtual Accounts, meaning that a Virtual Account is a unique set of instructions that onramp funds through a preset route.
