How do I update a user's information?

Context

Sometimes a customer's account name or virtual account name needs to be updated due to legal name changes, corrections of typos, or formatting issues. This includes situations like:

  • Correcting spelling mistakes

  • Adding or removing middle names

  • Updating business names

  • Changing name formatting (e.g., from Arabic to English characters)

  • Change address

Answer

To update a customer's name, you'll need to:

  1. Bridge's API supports partial updates (e.g., not including all fields in the request) only the following parameters are included: endorsements, residential_address, physical_address, verified_proof_of_address_at, documents 

  2. If a name change is required, contact Bridge Help Desk with the following information:

    • Customer's Bridge ID

    • Current name

    • New correct name

  3. For business name changes, provide supporting documentation showing the legal name change

Important notes:

  • Name updates may take up to 48 hours to be reflected across all systems

  • Both the customer account name and virtual account name may need to be updated separately

  • For businesses, documentation of the name change is required before updates can be processed
